Wonderfully horrifying in concept. Terrific delivery of feeling. I love
it. MichelleLynn Ehrmann, USA, Sept 10 |
I know that view so well. Nicki, New Zealand, Nov 10 |
Taking this in a series with 'Cry in the Wilderness'
and 'Being and Nothingness'....I like all three in this series but this
last one stands out as being superior to me. The first two were disturbing
and jarring. That is good of course, to be able to jolt a person with your
art is a wonderful thing. What I like about this one is that it can be
disturbing, but it is also possible to view it in a different way and find
some kind of peace, or resolution internally. I haven't spoken about the
technical aspects of the painting but I think others have touched on that.
One thing I do like is that it is open to several interpretations even
on the technical level. Is he looking over a lake, or is it a field? I
think it is whatever the viewer says it is. It is remarkable that you were
able to convey a definite message (the feeling of isolation and lack of
importance, or substantial influence on ones surroundings) while at the
same time not affirming more form than needed, so that the viewer can enjoy
the work in multiple ways. Further, this is done without an undue reliance
on abstraction. This is not an abstract piece. So in my view you have accomplished
the best of approaches (abstract/impressionistic vs realism) all in one
piece. - Dave Cummins, USA, Aug 05 |
The title conveys very well what the image depicts..
the lone figure sitting at the bottom and the big blue, slightly surreal
space. great idea - Emily, Cyprus, May 05 |
Dreamlike and out of this world. the blue monochrome
works incredibly well here. wonderful work - Karin, Austria, Apr 05 |
we
are really so small... the sky, the sea, the whole universe... everything
is bigger than us...
but that shouldn't worry us.
as that man standing calm there, we should accept our insignificance
and take our role as a part of this infinite, we should sit back and
relax,
knowing that it's not that we are small and intrascendent, but that we
are part of something bigger, and that that infinite is part of us. I love this painting for all those feelings that gives me... - Lucia Benito Zambrana, Argentina, May 05 |
How can you create all that with just blue? I'm always
amazed how you do that. I don't know what that title means because
my english is not that great. Curse me. But I find the painting really
peaceful and I'd like
to think that there's mist and that person over there is waiting for
somebody coming out of the mist. - Maria Davidjuk, Finland, May 05 |
God, I love this one.. The colors
are amazing and draw so well upon the loneliness, and dismal emotions
of the subject. He is
engulfed in a sea of his own blue thoughts...
absolutely gorgeous- bravo! - Lysa, USA, May 05 |
It's sad . colours match the feel - Clair, Australia, May 05 |
Really
great painting! I love textures of sky and water and 'smooth' transition
between them. Composition is very good too. - Ekaterina, Russia, May 05 |
I just love the feeling to this. Foggy and tranquil. - Adam, USA, May 05 |
Theres not much left to say it looks great to me...
I think your on to something. - Alyssa Farlow, USA, May 05 |
This
is delightful. I love the title.
I like the way you've used negative space.. Filling it up with great hues
and detail. The compostion is pleasing to my eye. - Melanie Starr Malott, USA, Apr 05 |
WOW!!...I
think this is my favorite.... I really get a feeling of isolation from
this one..almost claustrophobic. Lovely value changes, it creates so
much depth. Another winner! - Jessica Kuffner, Canada, Apr 05 |
You
really paint with the heart, such a deep feeling in your paintings!! - Ana Maria Hidalgo, Chile, Apr 05 |

Sadly,
I don't know where to look; still, I like it. (I wonder what it would
look like without the bars?) - A.D.,USA, Oct 05 |
I
love this artwork. The blues make it seem lonely, yet, the light shades
give it a feeling
of happiness as well.
Just... Perfect. It's also not too busy. Simple artworks always intrigue me. - Charli, Australia, Sept 05 |
A-flipping-mazing, artist. But when did you see me, to paint me so? Good
